Ruth Ann Suranie

Ruth Ann (Gamba) Suranie, 70, passed away peacefully at Morgan Health Center on December 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph “Rudy” and Mary C. (Senerchia) Gamba. She was the beloved wife of the late Mitchell A. Suranie. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Morenzi (Doug), Melanie Tsolas (Jason) and Jeanna Hartman (Corey); her cherished grandchildren Cayden Hartman and Taylor Tsolas; her sister Judy Kordoski (Joe) and nephew Ronnie Gareau (Crista). She was predeceased by her daughter Malissa Sardelli and her nephew Todd Gareau. Ruth worked in service at Extended Stay before her retirement. She was a wonderful mother whose love, strength, and kindness touched all who knew her. She cherished her time here on earth and the moments she shared with family and friends. Ruth will be remembered most for her gentle spirit, and the warmth she brought to every room. Soft-spoken, kind, and endlessly patient, she was the person her three daughters could always turn to- a mother, and truly their best friend. She had a rare gift for listening, for making each of her girls feel understood, supported, and deeply loved. Her two grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she cherished every moment she spent with them. Though gentle by nature, she also carried a quiet strength. She was wonderfully stubborn and fiercely independent, meeting life on her own terms, while standing firm for the people she loved. Youthful in both her heart and spirit, Ruth loved hearing every detail of what her daughters were up to—wanting to be part of the fun, part of the conversation, part of their world. She often joked that she was “one of the young girls,” and in so many ways she was: full of life, light, and a sense of joy that never faded. Her love, her humor, her strength, and her caring presence will forever live on in the family she adored. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 18th at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston, followed by burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI.
