Marion Louise Durkee

Marion Louise (Yeaw) Durkee, of Scituate, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 93, just four months shy of her 94th birthday. Born on November 7, 1932, in Scituate, she was the beloved daughter of the late Luther J. Yeaw and Pearlena (Adams) Yeaw. Marion was predeceased by her cherished husband, Gerald Franklin Durkee, Sr.; her brothers, Addison Yeaw and Robert Yeaw; and her sister, Priscilla (Yeaw) Gould. A woman of deep faith, Marion was a devoted member of the North Scituate Advent Christian Church, now known as Rockland Community Church, on Rockland Road in Scituate. She joined the church in 1965 and faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for five decades, touching the lives of countless children with her kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication. Marion found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a lifelong love of flowers and gardening, which inspired her passion for canning the fruits and vegetables she grew. She also enjoyed embroidery, sewing, crafting, completing puzzles, and spending quiet afternoons with adult coloring books. Although Marion and Jerry were unable to have children of their own, they opened their hearts and home as foster parents. Over the years, they lovingly cared for and raised ten foster children, providing them with a nurturing and supportive family. Their generosity, compassion, and unconditional love left a lasting impact on the many lives they touched. Marion is survived by her beloved foster daughter, Debra Jackson-Homerston and her husband, Paul Homerston; her nephew Raymond Anthony and his wife, Jane Anthony; as well as many other cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will fondly remember her warmth, gentle spirit and loving heart. A funeral service celebrating Marion's life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Rockland Community Church, Rockland Road, Scituate, Rhode Island. Burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, where Marion will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Rockland Community Church, 212 Rockland Road, North Scituate, RI 02857 Marion's legacy of faith, kindness, generosity, and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
