James F. Doyle

James F. Doyle, 91, passed away peacefully on April 28,2026. He was born in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late Leo and Pauline (Werner) Doyle. He was the devoted husband of the late Mary (Carmody) Doyle, with whom he shared many loving happy years of marriage. James was a devout Catholic with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's where he served as a Eucharistic Minister; and a former Knight of Columbus. He also was a daily communicant for many years at St. Philip's Church and spent many hours in Adoration. James was a hardworking man who spent much of his life working with his hands. Early in his career he learned the thermometer business in New York. He then moved his family to Bayville, NJ; where he started his own thermometer business. James was so proud to own his business and building. He would look out his window at lunch to see his beloved Mary and six kids swimming at Forked River! Later on, he moved his family to Scituate, RI. James started working for Popper Precision Instrument Inc. as a Developmental Machine Designer. Above all else, James was a devoted provider for his family. He took great pride in caring for and supporting his wife and six children. James treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren; who call him Papa! He is survived by his loving children, James P. Doyle, and his wife Catherine; Martin J. Doyle; Mary T. Marcello, and her husband Joseph; Patricia A. Calise, and her husband Salvatore; Kathleen M. Kerr, and her husband James; Shiela Ann Slaback, and her husband Dirk; and 18 cherished grandchildren; 19 cherished great grandchildren. He is survived by his sibling Raymond Doyle. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Mary Carmody Calise and his daughter-in-law Paula Doyle. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 11:00 AM, 144 Danielson Pike, Scituate, Rhode Island. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, PO Box 236, North Scituate, RI 02857.
