Fiorina Cefala

Fiorina (Mazzei) Cefala, 92, formerly of Johnston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday August 22, 2024. Born on March 20, 1932 in Lamezia Terme, CZ, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Raffaela (Guerresi) Mazzei. She was the beloved wife of the late Biagio Cefala. He was the love of her life. They met in Italy when she was 14 and he was 16, they came to the United States in 1956 and were blessed with 60 years of marriage. They were truly soulmates. It didn’t matter if they were traveling, square dancing, spending time with family and friends or just staying home as long they were spending their time together. She is survived by her loving children Lucia Buccieri and her husband Joseph of Clermont, FL, Florence Abilheira and her husband Anthony of Narragansett. She was the cherished grandmother of Maria (Kristin) and Julio (Kelly) Buccieri and Joseph and Isabella Abilheira. Beloved great grandmother of Gabriella Buccieri. Wonderful Aunt to many. She was the mother of the late Joseph Cefala and is predeceased by her siblings Fernando, Antonio, Vincenzo, Giovanna, Francesca, Caterina and Carmela. Fiorina was a talented seamstress and could sew anything. She worked at Pawtucket Dress Company, then Drapery House before retiring. Since sitting was not a part of her DNA gnocchi lessons and having something to eat was mandatory when you stopped by. She was a great cook and baker. The house was always full of the aroma of freshly baked bread or her infamous biscotti. She was proud to share her recipes and beauty secrets to family and the wonderful staff she met at the hospital and physical therapy. Visitation will be held Wednesday August 28th from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. in the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston.
