Cheryl Lynn Averett, 60, peacefully transitioned to eternal peace on May 5, 2025. Her final days reflected a well-lived life filled with laughter, joy, and profound love, surrounded by her devoted spouse, children, and grandchildren. Cheryl entered eternal rest with her last words: “GOD be with me. GOD be with me.” Cheryl, born on June 3, 1964, in Boston, Massachusetts, was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Averett and Cynthia Pine. Her life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience, as she devoted herself to her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her deep affection and unwavering support touched the hearts of all who knew her. Cheryl shared the last 35 years of her life with her loving spouse, Kenneth Williams. Together, they built a life filled with love, music, laughter, and adventure—traveling the country with his bands while she proudly stood front row at every performance, cheering him on with her signature red lipstick and radiant smile. Her professional journey began at Honeywell and later transitioned into the hospitality and management industry. Cheryl became known for her leadership, dedication, and genuine care for colleagues and guests. Her strong work ethic and compassionate nature touched the lives of many. Cheryl leaves behind her loving spouse, Kenneth Williams of Woonsocket; her children Keon Averett of Smithfield, Taishia Castillo Robinson of Greenwood, and Jamel Williams of Pascoag, and her cherished bonus children, whom she loved as her own: Yvonne Castillo, Garett Williams, Ebony Williams, Kenneth Williams, and Kyle Williams. She also leaves behind Jamie Meadows, the mother of her first grandson, whom she embraced as a daughter. In addition, Cheryl is survived by her children-in-law: Casandra Averett, Iwata Robinson, and Amanda Russell; her brother, Charles Averett; her sisters, Angel Mclean and Donna Harvey; her best friends, Carol and Louis (Gavino) Brice; and her lifelong friend, Harry Castillo. She is further survived by her sisters by love, Melanie Williams and Darlene Jeffreys, along with many cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald “Dee” Averett; her parents, Cynthia Pine and Charles Averett; her siblings, Johnny, Renee, and Roslyn Averett; her nieces, Karissa Dias and Lataunya Wilson; her nephew, Lino Castillo-Cook; her godchildren, Louis and Silvia Brice; along with many other beloved relatives and friends. Cheryl’s vibrant spirit, boundless love, and unforgettable presence left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Her legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her, bringing comfort and reassurance that her memory will continue to bring joy and warmth. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 17th at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Baptist Church, 340 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
