July 28, 2020
On July 28, 2020, a beautiful soul with the voice of an angel went to sleep in Jesus to await the resurrection. Jeanne E Gowdey (Stephens) was a woman of many talents. There really wasn’t anything that Jeanne couldn’t do once she put her mind to it. Many of us know the beautiful cakes she created for weddings and birthdays. She taught herself to play the organ with very few private lessons. She played for the Johnston Seventh-day Adventist Church. In her early 50’s, decided to go to RI College. She earned a BA in geology and earth science and a BA in Music with a concentration in vocal performance. She loved to learn. For many years Jeanne was a den mother for pack 42 in Hope. Because of her knowledge of crafts and her ability to teach, She served on the council level of Boy Scouts As a training committee chairperson. Here she was able to share her love of crafts with other den mothers. What we all will remember most about Jeanne was her gorgeous voice. She shared her love of Jesus Christ through song. She sang in church many times and even had her own CD produced entitled “Message of Hope.“ Jeanne E Gowdey (Stephens) was the wife of the late Herbert A Gowdey, Sr (2005) She is survived by her children: Tammy J Pelletier (Gowdey) of Scituate, Herbert A Gowdey Jr. and his wife Tracey Gowdey (Pitts) of Johnston, Brian K Gowdey and his husband Saul Ramirez of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and Randy P Gowdey of Scituate.
