BELLIVEAU, JAMES F. 78, of Scituate, RI, passed peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, June 20, 2020. He was the loving husband of 51 years of Karen Ann Belliveau. Jim was born in Lynn, MA the tenth child of the late Wilfred and Alice (Savard) Belliveau. Jim is survived by his loving wife, his sisters, Jeannette Murphy, Mary Guptill, Bertha Cripps, Shirley Christman, Patricia Dever, and Catherine Raymond, and his brothers, Wilfred F. Belliveau and Thomas Belliveau. He was the beloved brother-in-law of Wendy E. Akin. He was the proud uncle of 46 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Rita DeVarennes, Cecile Farrell, and Alice Ellis. Jim was graduated from Providence College and earned his Ph.D. in chemistry at Boston University. He was a Professor of Chemistry at Providence College for 38 years. He also held an adjunct Associate Professor position on the medical faculty at Brown University. During his tenure at Providence College he was actively involved in biomedical research. He spent sabbatical leaves working in a government lab in Paris, France and made many presentations on his research in Europe. He was the author or co-author of many professional publications. He was a 50-year member of the American Chemical Society. Calling hours will be held Thursday June 25th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate, Followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 151 Danielson Pike, North Scituate.
