Debra Ann (Hunt) Mathewson, 63, of Warwick, Rhode Island passed away unexpectedly at home on June 24, 2018. Debra was the daughter of David D. Hunt of Providence and the late Shirley Ann (Vota) Carrara. She is survived by her son, Paul Belanger, and his fiancee, Cheryl Larsson, of East Providence; her daughter, Kimberly A. (Belanger) Corriero, of Newport News, Virginia; her brothers: Glen Hunt, Joseph Lopes, Jr., and Edward Carrara, Jr.,; and her sisters: Julie (Castriotta) Nasiatka, Jean (Franco) Yoemans, and Mary (Franco) Dalton. Debra was the granddaughter of the late Nino Vota and Edith M. (Chase) Vota. Debra was formerly married to Raymond Belanger of East Providence and Raymond Mathewson of Arcadia, Florida. Debra was also a loving Nana to her five grandchildren: Chloe Belanger, Madison Corriero, Nora Corriero, Dylan Correiro, and Caramia Belanger. She had special relationships with her grandchildren’s parents. Debra was loved by all of her nieces and nephews. Debra was a graduate of the Nursing Program at CCRI. Before she retired, she was employed as a registered nurse at Kent County Hospital. She was an animal lover and leaves behind her beloved dog, Cody, and her four tropical birds. Debra enjoyed life outdoors, and her hobbies reflected this. She loved fishing and being on the water, bird watching, and gardening. Additionally, she enjoyed reading. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, July 6th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Rhode Island SPCA, 186 Amaral Street, Riverside, RI 02915.
