February 22, 2014
Today, February 22,2014, our sweet daughter Athena Dawn Dexter went home to be with The Lord. She was an amazing person, always ready to help others. Athena volunteered with the Foster Rescue as a first responder and at all of the Moosup Valley Fire Department fundraisers. She enjoyed time with children and spent four years worth of Wednesday mornings at story hour at the Tyler Free Library and helped at the annual Easter egg hunt. Even though it wasn\\\'t everyone\\\'s favorite way to spend the beautiful summer days, Athena was out in the hay field, tossing bales with the family and joking with her nieces on the trailer. Amanda was her pride and joy, and she helped out in her classes with every teacher that Amanda has had. Athena always took an interest in all of Amanda\\\'s hobbies; from cheering her on at her track and cross country meets, lending a hand on the Cucumber Hill Farm, and helping all of the riders at Amanda\\\'s horse shows. She loved Jesus and asked Him into her heart when she was young. Throughout the years she has turned to The Lord for guidance and often enjoyed reading her Bible and attending Bible study groups and other church outings. Although she had a lot of ups and downs in her life, she always depended on Christ. She will be terribly missed by everyone she encountered in life. Along with the many friends and extended family, she will be greatly missed by her parents, Raymond Dexter and Judy Engilis Dexter, her brother Michael Dexter, her niece Heather Dexter Bettez and her husband Justin Bettez, her niece Kayla Dexter Bejma, her husband Steve Bejma, and their son Nathan Bejma. Athena, we will love you always. See you with Jesus when we all get home forever. In lieu of flowers please contribute to Amanda\\\'s future. Checks made out to \\\"Amanda Dexter\\\'s Scholarship Fund\\\" can be mailed to 49A Moosup Valley Road in Foster, Rhode Island, 02825. Calling hours will be Thursday, February 27th from 5-7pm at Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Rt.116 in North Scituate, followed by a funeral service celebrating Athena\\\'s life led by Pastor Doug Tourgee. The burial will be Friday at 10:30am at Philips cemetery on North Road in Foster followed by a gathering of friends and family at the Moosup Valley Fire Department.
