Albert Ernest Mink

Mink, Albert E., 90, of Scituate and Venice, Fl. passed away on February 9, 2019. He was the husband of Barbara (Vennberg) Mink and was the son of the late Albert Mink and Sadie Alice (Sunderland) Mink. He leaves three sons: David A. Mink and his wife, Donna of Scituate, Steven A. Mink and his wife Tracy of Glocester, and Christopher Mink of Venice, FL; grandchildren: Xavier Mink, Zachary Mink, Justin Mink and the late Alexandra (Ali) Mink; and nieces: Lloydanne, Debra, Robin, Patty, and Brenda. He was the brother of the late Robert Mink and Muriel Marrot. Mr. Mink received bachelor degrees from both Rhode Island College and Brown University. He received a Master of Education (MEd) from Rhode Island College. Mr. Mink served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1951-1953 earning a citation by the Commanding General in 1953. He had a long career as an Educator and Principal in the Providence School Department, was a Visiting Professor at the Rhode Island College Graduate School and an Adjunct Faculty with the New England Institute of Technology. He had also been a Jr. High School basketball, football and baseball coach. Among the professional organizations that Mr. Mink had been a member of were: National Association of Secondary School Principals, Rhode Island Association of Secondary School Principals, Providence Association of Secondary School Administrators (Board of Directors), Rhode Island Council of Teachers of English (Board of Directors), and Rhode Island Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Mr. Mink was involved with the Yawgoog Scout Reservation for over 40 years. He retired as Reservation Director. During these years he also served as Scoutmaster, Scout Commissioner, and Board member of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Mink was active in community service. He was a Life Member of the Parent-Teacher Association of Rhode Island; Associate Member of the North Scituate Fire Department; and Founding President of the Rhode Island College Alumni Association. He had a fun-loving spirit and lived each day to the fullest. He was known for saying “just get it done” and the more projects he had, the happier he was. He had many passions among them fishing, gardening, wood working, swimming, and music (especially playing the harmonica and drums for his family and friends). Calling hours are Saturday, February 16, 2019, 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
