Ralph Peter Yannon

It is with gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ralph Peter Yannon, who met his Savior on May 12, 2026. He had been surrounded by family and friends who loved him and members of the St. Joseph’s (North Scituate) parish who sang him to the gates of heaven. Born on October 5, 1929, in Providence, RI, Ralph’s remarkable life spanned 96 years, during which he inspired many with his laughter, wit, unlimited knowledge, and love of life. Ralph was the cherished son of the late Peter Paul Yannon and Maria (Ricciutti) Yannon, known to our family as Nellie. After her death, he was lovingly raised by the late Angela (Viti) Yannon. He was also predeceased by his dear sisters Mary Louise Trementozzi and Josephine (Camparoni) Ventura and brother Edward Camparoni. Ralph’s legacy lives on through his devoted wife of nearly 64 years, Dolores (Aiello) Yannon and his daughters Kimberly Yannon and her partner Dwight Rollins and Stephanie (Yannon) DeBartolomeo and her husband Kevin DeBartolomeo. He is also survived by his pride and joy, grandchildren Aynsley Stock, Jameson Stock and wife Queila (DaSilva) Stock, Lucas Stock, Gabrielle DeBartolomeo and her fiancée Marcelino Barbosa, Christina DeBartolomeo, and Daniel DeBartolomeo and their significant others. He leaves behind his cherished nieces Susan Charbonneau and her husband Dr. Gaetan Charbonneau, Cheryl Camparoni, and Sharon Ventura. Ralph will also be missed by his adoring grand-nieces Dr. Camille (Charbonneau) Montaquila, Dr. Maria (Charbonneau) Dankert, and grand-nephews Christopher Charbonneau and Dr. Nicholas Charbonneau. He was lucky to have lived long enough to witness the birth of his sister Louise’s great grandchildren Charles, Olivia, and Carolena. His eyes would light up and often tear at seeing them or their pictures and videos. Ralph would tell you his most important accomplishment was building a loving extended family, which he most certainly did with his unwavering devotion and stewardship. Ralph honorably served the country he loved as a member of the United States Air Force. He worked for the Department of Defense for 30 years honing his skills as a cartographer. His career spanned technological evolution that began with hand scribing maps from reconnaissance photos during the Cold War. His skill and dedication to his work was a testament to his remarkable intelligence and work ethic. Ralph loved the outdoors and his life was spent fishing, golfing, playing tennis, and, for over 30 years, sailing the waters of RI. Sailing was one of his greatest passions. Self-taught, he started on a small 23-foot craft and retired as captain of a 42-foot boat well into his 80’s. He loved the bay and would trace leisurely paths around the islands and to the bridges. He and Dolores often ventured to Long Island and Nantucket. Ralph was an adventurer at heart. He loved the water and spent many blissful years at the helm. Ralph will be sorely missed and our hearts are broken, but he had strong faith. He was unwavering in his belief that God would keep His promise to bring the faithful to Him to live eternally in His love. And so, his grateful family takes solace in knowing he is at peace in the loving arms of his Savior, his siblings, and his parents. Visitation will be held on Friday May 22nd from 9am-10:30am in the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Rd., Scituate followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Joseph’s Church, Scituate. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery will be private, but guests are invited to join the family at a celebration luncheon at the East Greenwich Yacht Club, 10 Water Street, East Greenwich, from 1-4. In lieu of flowers, Ralph’s family asks that you consider a donation in his honor to either of his two favorite charities: St. Jude’s Hospital and Tunnel to Towers.
