Kathleen Anne Carreau

Kathleen Anne (Rachko) Carreau, 70, of Windsor, Connecticut, formerly of Rhode Island, passed away on April 12, 2026, at Hartford Hospital. Kathleen was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, where she attended Mt. Pleasant High School. She built a long career as an office manager at NISCO, a position she held with great dedication for 19 years. After retirement, she embraced her leisure time and enjoyed life, especially with her husband, David Carreau. Together they shared a deeply loving and devoted marriage, and he remained a constant source of care, support, and companionship throughout her life. When not with David, her greatest happiness was the time she spent with her son Matthew, daughter-in-law Linda, and her beautiful grandchildren. Kathleen had a natural gift for making a home warm and welcoming. She took pride in her appearance, loved decorating, and found joy in the little details that made life feel special. She truly enjoyed shopping—most notably on QVC—and had a fond eye for jewelry that added some sparkle to her life. She was a wonderful cook whose meals—most famously her beef stew and homemade soups—provided comfort and togetherness to family and friends. She also enjoyed simple pleasures, including I Love Lucy and classic black-and-white films, particularly those starring Bette Davis. Kathleen had a vibrant spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a natural ability to bring life and conversation into any room. She treasured time spent with family and friends and always looked forward to her long, laughter-filled phone calls with her sisters. She had a generous heart and found great happiness in caring for others in her own personal way—through food, conversation, and togetherness. More than anything, she adored her grandchildren, who brought tremendous light and happiness to her life. Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, David Carreau; her son, Matthew Parenteau; her daughter-in-law, Sophealay Parenteau; and her cherished grandchildren, Miles Parenteau, Lilah Parenteau, and Soniya Parenteau. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Karen Stopfel (Steve), Lois Barbieri (William), Joseph Rachko (Mariann), Ann Vincente (Ilidio) and Jennifer Kollek (John). She was predeceased by her beloved son, David Parenteau; her parents, Evelyn Rachko and Joseph Rachko; and her sister, Jeanne Rachko. Family and friends are invited to attend Visitation on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Avenue, Scituate, RI. Burial will conclude funeral service in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Kathleen will be deeply missed, always loved, and forever remembered by all who knew her.
