June C. Barton

June C. Barton, MSN RN, 84 lifelong resident of Johnston RI, died May 30, 2024 under the loving embrace of the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center with her family by her side. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Peter J and Olivenne (Gendreau) Carmello, and sister of the late Allyn Carmello. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Barton. June was best known for her management in the nursing profession. She served in numerous leadership roles as a Nurse beginning her career at St. Joseph’s Hospital followed by, Rhode Island Hospital and finishing her career at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket. She is a St. Mary’s Bay View Graduate and then furthered her education as a BS RN from Salve Regina College. She later achieved her master’s degree at URI. June was known as an easy-going person who loved to throw parties. She was deemed an avid baker and was known to give away so much of her baked goods to family, friends, neighbors and her beloved Johnston Fire Department on Hartford Ave. She was an accomplished pianist who had volunteered numerous times playing for the elderly at Nursing Homes. June was a world traveler, but also made it a point to visit all 50 states in our country as well. Her gift to her grandchildren has been instilling the passion for seeking out the world through travel. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed their company and their luncheons. As a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Church in North Scituate, she had been involved in numerous committees including the Annual Strawberry Festival and Women’s Guild. She is fondly remembered for “June’s Jams and Jellies” which she lovingly created specially for the Church’s Fall Festival. She will be deeply missed by her two children Robert G. Barton, his wife, Kathleen and their children, Vanessa, Frank and great granddaughter, Talia Baldinelli. Her daughter Julie B. Krapf, her husband, Joseph and their two children, Joseph W. Krapf and Janelle (Krapf) Traynor her husband Ryan and great granddaughter, London Borges. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass on Wednesday, June 5th at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph Church, 151 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, RI. Burial will be private.
