Irene F. Arcand

Irene F. (Mauricio) Arcand went Home to her Savior on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. She was surrounded in love from near and far when her heart peacefully stopped beating at the tender age of 91. Born in Pawtucket, she was the sixth of 15 children, to the late Antonio and Olivia (Rodrigues) Mauricio. She married her one true love, the late Armand Arcand. With him they built their home in Manville where they raised their family of six children and helped to care for all 10 of their grandchildren. Irene was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. She most recently lived in Johnston where she was loved and cared for by her family. Irene had been a skilled seamstress, avid gardener, happy homemaker with a beautiful smile and care giver of young and old for the entire span of her lifetime. Her true joy was found when she was with her family. As a faithful woman she led by example in prayer, she was always generous, was always peaceful in nature, never gave up hope and continuously provided her unconditional love. Preceded in death by her son, the late Anthony Arcand, she is survived by her son James (Paula) Arcand of Manville, and her four daughters Suzanne (Les) Crane of Williston, VT, Carol Arcand (Charles) L’Heureux of Manville, Irene (Phil) Griffin of Warwick, Angela (Roger) Adam of Johnston, as well as her 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren (Joshua Lyons/Taylor Charbonneau, Benjamin (Bentley) Crane/Thurston, Simon and Eleanor, Caitlin (Richie Cortez) Arcand/Ava, Peter Crane, Anne (Joel) Gibble, Jeannie L’Heureux/baby boy, Jennifer L’Heureux/Violet and Theodore, Emilina (Sean) Santerre/Cecilia, Derek and Lila, Alexander Griffin and Roland Adam. She also leaves one sister, Mabel Genereux and five brothers, Joseph, Manoel, James, George and Steven Mauricio, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Monday July 29th from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m in the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, 33 Division Street, Manville, RI. Burial will immediately follow in the St. James Cemetery.
