Edward F. Heelon

Edward F. Heelon (Teddy), 81, of Johnston, RI, passed away peacefully on 10/6/2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Edward was born June 30, 1941 to the late Rita B. Heelon (Young) and the late Edward T. Heelon. he followed in his father’s footsteps in the trades at a young age and became a master plumber. He worked for Henry Oil Company for many years and then opening his own plumbing and heating business until his retirement. Edward was the husband of Meredith A. Heelon (Priestley) just shy of 60 years. Besides his wife he is survived by his four daughters, Tammy Maloney of Narragansett, Kimberly Paiva and her husband Louis of Smithfield, Deborah Gianfrancesco and her husband Robert of North Smithfield and Erin DiStefano and her husband Michael of Jamestown. He also leaves his five grandchildren, Christopher Thibault, Louis Paiva II, Samantha Thibault, Sydney Maloney and Robert Gianfrancesco. Besides his wife and children Edward is survived by his sister Carol Ross and her husband Louis, his sister Barbara Desrosiers and her late husband George and brother William Heelon and his partner Lori Mignanelli. Along with his many nieces and nephews to who he was known as “Uncle Teddy”. “Teddy” was a lover of the outdoors; one of his passions was he loved hunting, his favorite was bow and arrow and black powder. In his younger days he would scuba dive, skydive and ride his Harley. He thoroughly enjoyed their summer lake house on Webster Lake in NH and would go every weekend and especially liked when family and friends would come to visit. He was a jokester and loved a good practical joke, just hope that you weren’t on the receiving end. He had many friends and was a very likeable guy. He would give the shirt off his back to help a friend out and has passed that trait onto his daughters. He left a footprint on this Earth that will be hard to replace, and he will be greatly missed. His funeral services to which friends and family are invited will be held on Saturday, October 15th with visiting hours 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the Winfield and Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate with a Funeral Service to immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery Johnston RI.
