David Charles Wilds

David Charles Wilds, 54, passed away peacefully at home on February 12, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Norristown, PA, he was the cherished son of William Frank Wilds and the late Constance Lee (Bergey) Wilds. Beloved stepson to Judy Lynn (Livergood) Wilds. David was the devoted and loving husband of Shannon Andrea (Truncale) Wilds, who was his greatest support, best friend and partner in life of 33 years. He is survived by his sister, Kristin Lee (Wilds) Verchot, husband Shawn Nathan Verchot, nieces Dakota Rae Verchot and Reagan Lee Verchot. He was predeceased by his brother, William Matthew Wilds. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, David honorably served his country during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch where his housing unit at Khobar Towers was bombed by terrorists in 1996. He dedicated himself to duty with strength and commitment. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline, resilience, and camaraderie that remained with him throughout his life. After retiring from the service David worked at his family's business , New England Pewter Company which his father started in 1974. David specialized in CAD/CAM techology. His attention to detail made him an incredible asset to the company until his father retired in 2009. Before his passing, David was a well-respected employee at Kohl’s in Smithfield, where he was known for his extensive product knowledge and his unwavering kindness toward customers. He developed life long friendships with his coworkers with whom he was very close. He had a natural ability to help others, making every interaction a pleasant and welcoming experience. Outside of work, David found great joy in painting. His artistic talent was evident in the murals he created in his home and in the many beautiful pieces he lovingly gifted to family and friends. He was also an avid fan of the band Phish and Rush and embraced a laid-back, peaceful way of life. His calm and gentle presence left a lasting impact on those around him—whether he realized it or not. David loved hiking, fishing and going to concerts with his best childhood friend and brother from another mother Doug George. David will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, especially his beloved wife, Shannon and furbabies Maddie and Missy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Winfield & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate, RI. Burial with Military Honors will be held privately at Acotes Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to the Scituate Animal Shelter, 106 George Washington Hwy, Clayville, RI 02815.
