Bruce George Lorange

Bruce George Lorange passed away on November 20, 2022. He was a resident of Glocester, RI living in the home he lovingly built by hand and spent over 47 years creating memories in with his beloved family. Bruce was born March 31, 1941 in West Palm Beach, FL to parents George and Mildred Lorange. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann Lorange. He is also survived by his brother: Roy Lorange and his wife Carol Lorange, his sister Janice Fischer and her husband Warren Fischer, his three children including daughters: Cheryl Ann Smith and her husband Daniel Smith, Suzanne Lorange-Cook and her husband Francis E. Cook, his son: Bruce George Lorange, Jr. and his wife Yurie Lorange, his two grandchildren: Rachel Anne Guadagno and her husband Norman Guadagno, Sarah Lynne Hall and her husband Jonathan Hall as well as his great-grandson: Nathaniel Scott Guadagno. Bruce received his GED after his decision to enlist in his junior year to serve in the US Marine Corps, which was a period of great pride in his life. After basic training at Parris Island, where he received special mention in marksmanship and boxing, Bruce served as a guard aboard the USS Forrestal in the Mediterranean region. He enjoyed many adventures in his travels and he spoke fondly his entire life of the friendships, comradery and sense of honor he enjoyed from being a Marine. After his service in the Marine Corps, Bruce found the craft that would become his life’s calling in carpentry. He apprenticed with a family mentor and opened his own business Lorange Builders as a contractor working side-by-side with his brother Roy Lorange until his retirement in 2014. As a result of their focus on doing good, honest work and ensuring customer satisfaction, countless homes and remodeling jobs around Rhode Island and Massachusetts carry the stamp of Lorange Builders quality. Bruce was a fun-loving, dependable and giving person with a mischievous grin. He had an expert ability to tell a good story as well as having a legendary work ethic. He lived his life unapologetically with passion, humor, a strong will and a huge heart to match his crushing handshake. In addition to spending time with family, Bruce enjoyed being outdoors, annual hunting and fishing trips, tending to his gardens, reading in his later years and the occasional whiskey while watching the Patriots or Red Sox with his beloved pets by his side. Bruce’s family meant the world to him and he was equally adored and loved by his family, as well as friends, customers and acquaintances. Bruce’s loss will be felt by many who count themselves lucky to have shared time with him and to have known such a man of rare strength and kindness. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, RI.
