Mary Rose Ellingwood

Mary Rose Ellingwood, 76, formerly of Hope, Rhode Island and more recently from Englewood, Florida passed away on June 25, 2020. Mary passed after a long illness receiving collective loving care from family and hospice. She will forever be the devoted and faithful wife to her husband George Ellingwood Senior and all of her blessed and loving family members: her son George Ellingwood Junior and wife Dottie, daughter Lori Zoglio, son Mark Ellingwood and wife Susan, Sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Utter and Patricia Moore. She is predeceased by her beloved twin sister Agnes Young and brothers Leonard Audet, Raymond Audet and Peter Audet. She was dearly loved by her many grandchildren: Amanda Vieira, Noah Ellingwood, Kyle Martin, Stacey Martin, Nickie Allen, Nathan Ellingwood, Jennifer Tipton and great grandchildren, Brianna Edwards, Amachai Pollock and Emma Allen. She was dedicated and treasured by extended family including many nieces, nephews, in laws and her many adopted friends, all of whom completed her family circle. Mary Rose was born on December 22, 1943. She was raised by her Father Leonard Joseph Audet and her Mother Mary Rose Audet in East Providence on the water of Narragansett Bay which instilled a natural lifelong love for the bay, beach and ocean. She often shared stories of fishing with her father and memories of the experiences she had with her mother, sisters and brothers. Mary Rose Ellingwood, worked for many years as a rural mail carrier for the Town of Hope, RI. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, reading and entertaining large family gatherings. She would frequent Charleston Beach and Camp there on the shore with family and friends. She had a “trick” for quahoging that no one else was ever able to master. After her retirement she and her husband George moved to Englewood, Florida to be even closer to the water. Mary Rose will be held in our hearts always and forever. She was steadfast in her dedication to her loved ones as well as her faith. Through her faith Mary had the rare capacity to love unconditionally and for that we are forever changed for the better and will remain eternally grateful. From the foundation of her love we all were nurtured and grew. The ripple effects of her love will continue throughout our lives. Her spirit lives on and will remain in each of us. We recognize and honor the strong example she set through her Christian Faith. She was eager to pray with us and for countless strangers as well. She always offered kindness, compassion and wisdom through her words and actions. To say she shall be missed would not capture how the family feels. To honor her everlasting spirit we will be as committed as she to love unconditionally through action and keep the bonds of family strong. Funeral Friday July 3rd at 8:15 a.m. from the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pleasant Street, West Warwick. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. Calling hours Thursday 5-8:00 p.m.
