Mercier, Thomas D., 68, of Foster, was called to be with the Lord on July 21, 2017. He was the husband of Myra (Keene) Mercier. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Delphis and Harriet (Morris) Mercier. Thomas was a graduate of Pawtucket East and Bryant University. He was the recorder of deeds and Reserve Police Officer in Central Falls. He was Senior Title Examiner and Underwriter for Chicago Title Insurance before founding North Country Title. He was a long member of Washington Park UMC, having joined on profession of faith in 1991. He was active in Bible studies and prayer groups. His daily devotions were Bible Study and Intercessory prayer. He was a member of the Emmaus community. He was dedicated to his now hometown of Foster, having left the urban life behind, he was active in town affairs, ran for town council and was currently serving on the planning board. Nearly all charity and spiritual healing was done confidentially with all glory to the Lord. Besides his wife, he leaves his children Craig A. Berntson (Jennifer), Debra K. Souve (Robert), Betsy L. Lemire, his grandchildren Robert B. Souve, III, Jessica Berntson, Christopher J. Souve, Jason Berntson, Nicholas Souve, Austin Lemire, Jessica Lemire Martin, Sheena Souve Metivier, and his great grandchildren Michael Souve, Caleb Souve, Craig Berntson and Peyton Martin. He also leaves a sister Lillian Ridgewell and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother to the late John Donald Mercier and David J. Mercier. Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday July 29th from 2-4PM with a Remembrance and Blessing to follow in the Winfield & Son’s Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Rd., Scituate. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Foster Ambulance or to the Foster Food Pantry.
