Leonide (Peppy) Melaragno, 76, of Johnston, RI passed away peacefully and painlessly on January 31, 2018. Leon was the son of the late Biagio Melaragno and Claire Marsella Melaragno. His siblings Paul, Peter and Elissa, his nephews Brian and Peter, his niece Vanessa and his many cousins and friends remain full of fond memories of his unique and intelligent character. His first love was that of opera as he trained his basso profondo voice to the point that he sang in the opera La Traviata with the great soprano Roberta Peters at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in the 1970’s. As a free lance modelmaker, he became well known in the one time grand network of Rhode Island jewelry manufacturers. As a sculptor he was commissioned to create a bust of Mayor Buddy Cianci. In his living room recording studio, he loved to record CD’s of his close friends who were musicians and singers. Music and art were his passions yet I am sure that there are hundreds of people in coffee shops throughout the state who remember his unique and entertaining points of view about politics, health and life. May you rest in peace dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Services will be private.
